Creating a game

I have decided to make a game, a big game. I've created a few small games in the past using various technologies and languages and recently made a game called Wisps in Unity which was a lot of fun. It was my first 3D game - but not really the game I wanted to make. Always having been a fan of Harvest Moon and Rune Factory (and having always been slightly disappointed by the 3D debuts in the series), I plan on drawing a lot of inspiration from the best of these and drag it kicking and screaming into three dimensions.

I have done very little on the game so far, but I'm hoping that by blogging at least once a month and seeing my progress written down I may be encouraged to complete it. What I have done so far though is get the very basics in place; there is a world of sorts, a character, an inventory, a few tools, and turnips. I'm pleased with the progress I've made so far, enough to see in my mind how it will all fit together in a full game - so that's what I'm doing.

I know it's probably going to take several years, and that I'll redo most things at least several times, but I think it should be rewarding to complete. And even if I don't complete it, at least I'll have learned lots on the way.

I leave you with a couple of recent screenshots.
